About

My love affair with Photography began when I left my home in Brazil at 17 years old to travel solo around the world. The people I met and the places I visited, instantly inspired me to capture all the beauty I saw, just so I could share it with others.

But it wasn't until many moons later that I realized that Photography was my so called "life's work". Before I became a photographer, I was a world traveler,  a classical ballerina, I taught English for kids, coordinated summer camps, studied Advertising and Commercial Illustration, did copywriting and design for Ad agencies, was an event planner and marketing coordinator, worked for a couple of major corporations, and also got a Masters in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Computer Animation. With such a multifaceted background, all paths eventually led me to a successful career in the Film Industry, where I worked as a visual effects producer for more than 10 years, producing effects for several commercials and huge 'blockbuster' movies such as: Man in Black II, Hellboy, Charlotte's Web and others. In that sexy but crazy job, I lead crews of 200+ artists, worked on sets and locations overseas, managed multi-million dollar budgets, collaborated with directors such as Guillermo del Toro, Gary Winick and Gore Verbinski, and negotiated with producers and executives from Paramount, Disney and studios alike. However, after making a few too many 'monster' and 'superhero' movies, my need to express my own vision grew stronger and I realized it was time for me to start creating my own images.

That's when I realized that my love for imagery and everything else I'd ever done could be bundled up in one joyous craft: Photography ~ my perfect match. Whether I'm shooting Fashion, Lifestyle, Travel, Portraits, Food or Interiors, the collaboration with a team fits me like a glove! I love working with set and prop designers, stylists, hair and make up artists, clothing designers, location managers, clients, art directors, assistants and models, because it feels familiar to me, and it allows me to bring in my technical and artistic skills, as well as my filmmaking know-how. My style reflects what I love most in life: people, color, beauty, romance, bohemian flair and a feeling of wanderlust, all wrapped in a soft light and sunshine glow.  You see why monster movies weren't cutting it, right?  ;)  Now, more than ever, I'm very passionate about everything I do. I feel lucky to have found something I can do for the rest of my life with a smile on my face.

I am also the author of an inspiration and lifestyle blog called Gypsy Girl's Guide, my work has been featured in online and printed publications, and I am a regular contributor at Shutter Sisters, an inspiring community of women photographers.
